Maintenance Mechanic

SUMMARY: Repairs and maintains machinery related to production. Corrects both machine and product documentation through communication with Engineering personnel. Ensures manufacturing processes produce product to print, or takes corresponding action to correct. This individual will also aid in the calibration of gauges used to verify product.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Sets-up, adjusts, and repairs, production assembly equipment. Will participate with the preventive maintenance program (PM) on this equipment and all ancillary machinery crucial to the production of QA products. Preventative maintenance in accordance with standard maintenance methods and documented procedures. Helps to maintain existing maintenance documentation such as Machine Logs, and schedules for Preventive Maintenance, confirming the program is current.

Identifies and communicates discrepancies in machine or product documentation, processes and/or procedures. This individual communicates this information to the appropriate personnel for correction. Initiates and follows through purchase orders for tools, equipment, and replacement/spare parts.

Perform any other assigned tasks, such as moving equipment, building repairs, or production support duties.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Two year technical school or equivalent job experience. Due to the need to communicate with Engineers and document issues with equipment, this individual must have basic computer skills (i.e. able to use basic programs like the Microsoft Office Suite, Email, the Internet, and Windows Explorer). This individual must have the ability to use common machine shop inspection equipment and tools (i.e. micrometers, calipers, drop and last word indicators, comparators, toolmaker's microscope, etc.). The ability to use common machine shop equipment would be a plus (i.e. Mill, Lathe, Surface Grinder, Drill Press etc.)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This position requires a high level of agility to perform proficiently. Some tasks require kneeling, lying prone, ladder climbing, and awkward positioning of hands, to complete. Occasional heavy lifting will be required from time to time.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Characteristic work environment is relatively clean and dry indoor work. In some instances, exposure to noise levels, chemicals, or heat, require the use of some protective equipment.
