SENIOR PRODUCT DESIGN ENGINEER (Hampton, NH)
SUMMARY
QA Technology Company, Inc. is seeking a seasoned Product Design Engineer responsible for designing our new test probe and interconnect products. This person will assist customers through providing design solutions for specific interconnect and probe applications. They will assure that new standard products, and products designed for specific customer applications, meet customer expectations and reflect QA strategic sales and marketing activities/objectives. This position will coordinate internal company resources through product release via established internal procedures. They will provide input into fabrication, quality, and assembly issues, as they relate to design intent and metallurgical expectations. This Engineer will coordinate, and/or perform, all product testing/experiments on new, and modified product, as it evolves from concept through maturity. They will work closely with Engineering Support to document the design evolutionary path of all product designs. This individual works closely with the Product Manager, Sales, Engineering, and Manufacturing staffs.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 10 years' experience.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Preferred experience to include product design and development experience related to electrical interconnections.
- A sound background in metallurgical science with experience centering on materials and platings commonly used in electrical interconnects.
- Familiar with assembly practices, molding, stamping and screw machine fabrication as they relate to test, medical and mil-aerospace interconnect products.
- Familiar with IEC, EIA, UL and Mil standards applicable to testing and qualification of connectors and contacts.
- Possess good communication skills, and portray a professional image.
- Results oriented by nature, focused on providing prompt solutions.
- Sound understanding of good test principles and practices. Ability to design experiments.
- The ability to understand engineering drawings, technical documents and catalogs.
- The ability to use precision tools, machine tools and laboratory equipment.
- The ability to generate professional, quality reports suitable for general release or customer presentation. Be able to respond well to questions and to analyze complex requirements in front of customers.
- Any necessary skills required to design and build test apparatus and prototypes, as needed.
- Proficient in designing using 3D solid modeling tools (i.e. Solid Works, Cosmos FEA, SPC, etc.)
- The use of commonly used computer software for documentation and communication purposes (i.e. Microsoft Office, etc.)
- Able to work with minimal supervision.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Office, laboratory and shop are typical of the work place. Some travel may be required in specific circumstances.
